Me So Busy

AAAAhhh. Being an adult can be so draining sometimes. Waking up early, working, cooking, cleaning...that's for the dogs man. I'm lucky that my job allows me to work at my convenience, so I'm grateful for that. I also have really cool and interesting students so I look forward to meeting with them and having lessons. But recently I've been so busy with teaching and going to Abe's games that taking pictures has had to take a backseat for a while. :(
Buuuut, the good news is that I finally introduced myself to the team photographer for the Tochigi Brex. Although there was a definite language barrier, she agreed to let me "shadow" her at one of the upcoming games so I can observe how she takes her action shots. Any new photography technique is gladly welcomed and I'm sure I'll be able to take better shots later. So keep your eyes peeled for some of those pics soon. And speakking of the Brex, they lost 2 last weekend but there's a game coming up this weekend...let's do this! :)

Here's a pic of what I've been feeling like recently...

I love lazy Sundays. That's exactly what today has been. I slept in, taught one private student, went shopping and just relaxed. Ahhhh. I'm also really happy because the Brex won again, which means they are meshing more as a team and may not be the proverbial doormat expansion team this season like many may have expected. They play again next weekend in Mie prefecture, which is a lonnnng bus ride away. I hope this week flies by!

Since this is supposed to be a photo blog, and I haven't had time to take some good pictures like I would like to, I thought I'd post some random pictures I've taken recently that make me happy since today is a happy day! Enjoy....

This is one of my students from Linnie's English School. His name is Daichi and he is sooo cute. He sings "The Hello Song" with so much feeling and has the dance moves down pat!

This is a famous character in Japan named Cupie. He's really famous and always naked but I'd never seen this anatomical variation of him before. It was on my student's table and I couldn't avoid looking at it while we were studying.

Have I mentioned how badly I want a dog?! This is An-chan, my student's dog. She is so well-behaved and is bilingual. So smart, ne?

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

It feels goooood!

Well, it's about time! It was a grueling weeking, filled with excitement and disappointment but Abe's team finally won their first game this season. And it was soooo nice to see it happen. Of course, I am being optimistic in saying that I think they got off to a rocky start, but should be able to get into the groove of things now. It's always nice to see how excited fans are to watch thier local team get some wins in this division.
As always, I took some photos at the games. I'm reeeeally hoping that I can get a zoom lens sometime soon so I can get some good action shots because my little old 18-55mm lens just doesn't cut it for the exciting shots. But I did manage to get some cool pictures of the event itself:

Check out the DJ equipment they use for every homegame...

Abe's loyal fans came with a revamped version of their old sign. They bring it to EVERY home game. I don't think it's a spitting image of Abe, but it's a funny caricature nonethelesss.

My friend Hitomi brought her friend so they could watch a game. I hope they had fun!

The Brex celebrated Halloween a little bit early this year. So lots of kids showed up in costumes so it was fun for them too, although I didn't see any vampires or ghosts, just lots of cats, witches and pumpkins.

Another one of Abe's fans. It's funny how they all say he's 'Cool'...I don't know why they use that word to describe him, but I like to describe him as HOT...hehehe

Tipoff...let the fun begin!

On a side-note, I've been so busy working the past few weeks that I haven't been able to take any pictures of friends, kids, etc. But I'm hoping to do so sometime soon. One of my adult students just had a baby so I'm hoping to get some cool newborn shots. Anyway, Tochigi plays another game this weekend against Mitsubishi...I hope they can add another victory to their record!

The Madness Continues

This season I am blessed to travel with Abe to most of his basketball games on the road. I love it because the weekends don't feel so empty anymore since we don't have to be apart for days at a time. I also love that I get to visit parts of Japan that I might have never gone to on my own.
With the excitement of traveling, I also get to witness a part of basketball revival here in Japan...Tabuse-mania. Since his joining the team, I have seen crowds of people (aged 6 months to 80!) in malls, parking lots and arenas, patiently waiting just to get a glimpse of the ex-NBA player. Last weekend's game in Shizuoka was no exception. Unfortunately, the Brex lost their game, but that didn't seem to affect the fans' appreciation of the team, and of course #0. Here are some highlights of the trip:

Another sold-out crowd:

The team (and Abe) getting ready to start the game:

Here is a quick snapshot from the team bus of the fans starting to gather outside to see the team:

And finally, my favorite. This sneaky dude got the best view of all. I almost didn't see him...can you spot him? :)

I really hope things pick up for the team. Since they are new to the league, they are not expected to the strongest team this season. However, it would be nice to get some wins...we'll see what happens!

More Cuteness

Here are a few more pictures of Naomi...a mixture of cuteness, serenity, and relaxation all bundled into one.

Look at those tiny toes!

Such big brown eyes...

Don't you just want to squeeze her little legs?!

More Pretty Pretty Princess

I finally got a chance to go through some more pictures that I've had saved on my computer. Asia was such a good little girl to take pictures of. I was learning how to focus with my new lens so, unfortunately, a lot of my pictures didn't come out the way I had hoped. But I managed to find a few that I really liked...some that showed Asia as the little princess that she is:

I did it all by myself!

*Ahem* Allow me to toot my own horn for a second...Well, I'm excited about a personal accomplishment. I have been trying for months now to figure out a way to combine pictures and put them into one collage. This is helpful to me for a few reasons: first, I can post more pictures per each blog entry. I like making gigantic photos, which I will still do. But sometimes, I want to try and combine a few because it gives it a different effect, and now I can. Also, I know you can do this really easily with photoshop, but the one I so desire is really really expensive (I'm talkin no celebrating Christmas this year if I buy it) so I'm trying to hold off on that version if I can. So here's my experiment with Danielle's photos...I hope to get better at them, but the effect I'm trying to go with is one little photo grouping at a time instead of scrolling through a bunch of them. Yay!!!

Toot toot for me! ;)
