My new little friend

It's been a while since I've gotten the chance to visit with my friend Aya. The last time I went to her house was when Abe and I visited her after having her first-born child, Yuwano. She was sooo tiny when we first met her and I just can't believe how big she's gotten!

As soon as I walked in the door, the little sweethart welcomed me like she knew me. She crawled to me and showed me her toys and even modeled her new beanie. So adorable. I can't wait to take her out and do a fall photo shoot! :)

My favorite part of Costa Rica...

...is it bad that I enjoyed our hotel as much as I did? In any case, here are some pictures of our lovely hideout for our little trip this summer. Everything about it was amazing, including the yummy 24-hour room service :)

Here's a little more fun from our trip to the Bay Area.

And this guy loved his clam chowder sourdough bowl just like all the tourists:

On the drive back, we made a wrong turn that took us 3 additional hours to get back home. We climbed this neverending zig-zaggy road and I started getting carsick. By the time we made it to the top, we were above the clouds...sooo amazing!

San Francisco, I loved everything about you...can't wait to visit again!

San Fran (part 1)

So I'm still catching up on all the photos I never posted while back in SoCal. Abe and I were extremely busy while at home, but we did manage to sneak away for some little trips. One of my favorite getaways was a surprise roadtrip to San Francisco. I'd never been there before so I was extremely ecstatic when Abe told me where we were going. Here are some of my favorite shots:

Anyone who really knows me understands that I'll never ever ever pass up an opportunity to visit an aquarium...ever.

Everything in SF seemed so bright and vivid and larger than life. I can't believe it took me so long to finally make a trip out there. This is just one batch of the hundreds of pictures I took!

Pretty Mama

I'm so happy I can finally blog this series of pictures I've had saved since I first went home to LA. My lovely friend Jen was one of the first friends I called and we were pretty much in contact with each other the whole trip home. She is a wonderful photographer who not only inspired me to get into photography, but who more than generously offered any knowledge she had to help me out.

I'm forever grateful that I was lucky enough to spend time with her and learn as much as I could. She needed headshots for her new website (I'll post a link when she's launched it) and I was more than happy to try to help her.

Ummm, two things: Number one...she's flippin gorgeous, right?!

And Number two: I pray that I look as good as she does when I'm 5 1/2 months pregnant!

I wanted to end with different kinda style than I'm used to since I'm still discovering my own unique photography style. I'm always looking for new angles, poses, ways to edit photos, etc. I like what I got:

I can't wait to go back home and hang out with my photography buddy!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

The Newlyweds {Us!}

It's already been a month and a half since our wedding brought our close family and friends together and I still get giddy when I think of how amazing that day was and how much fun we had.

After our Vegas wedding (formal pics to come later), I begged Abe to agree to take some photos at a place I've seen on other blogs from WPPI. It was a little troublesome to get the OK, but once we did, boy was I excited! Here is some of the fun we had as a newlywed couple:

So.much.fun. If you ever get the chance to do a shoot like this, DO IT! Sooo worth it. We didn't even get through half of the toys they had out there!

Catching up

So I've been thinking. Thinking about how to get back on the blogging train consistently. I have so many pictures I want to post, but I don't know how to go about doing it since I have so many random ones.

So I'm going to try to post one a day, or at least 5 a week or so until I get back to the current photos I've been taking.

This one is from a sports photography class I took for a few weeks in Cali. Some friends and I were playing around with creative angles...

Behind the Scenes

Yesterday, I was fortunate enough to experience a happy accident. Abe had to do some team photos and we were pressed for time so I had to go with him. I didn't realize that one of my favorite Japanese sports photographers was in charge of the shoot and boyyy was I excited. I originally met him last season at a game when I saw him walking around with his two huge cameras and noticed he shot with Nikon. He's done some work for the league that Abe plays in and more notably, the NBA.

Tomoaki let me stick around and I ended up staying while observing, asking lots of questions and taking as much in with lighting and posing as possible:

Unfortunately, I had just taken my camera out of my bag right before we got to the shoot, so I had to resort to my Iphone to sneak some pictures of the shoot.

I was overwhelmed by the lights and the work that went into the photos. There were huge comptuer screens, wires everywhere, lots of softboxes and umbrellas, I was in camera heaven!

Photobucket

This is a preview of the new team photo. I thought it was hilarious watching some of the guys do their best to try to "look hard"...most of them ended up giggling like little kids.

I'm glad I happened to stop by for a great learning experience!

Furry friends

I've got lots of exciting stuff going on right now. WPPI is next week and even though the workshops may be a bit out of my teacher's salary price range, I'm hoping to go for a few hours to take a peek at what cool stuff is out there...and I get to see some photographers who speak English! :)

Abe and I went to the pet store in Utsunomiya a few days ago. If he let me, I'd go to the pet store everyday. I like to stand with my face pressed against the glass with the children who boldy bang on the glass hoping the cute little monsters will look at us. haha...I hope Abe doesn't read that part.

In any case, here are three cute animals that I took photos of on my new Iphone, which I'm still trying to figure out how to use.

Pretty birdy bird:

Not sure if this is a squirrel or a gopher or what...?

And, this cuddly rat! [icky icky shudddder]

I think we need to get a new fish. Or a cat. Or something. The workers in the pet shop are going to get tired of me window shopping. Ha.
