on the mend

Our poor Ninja is recovering from surgery and he has to wear a cone around his head for the next week. He is miserable. But we are doing our best to spoil him with his favorite gourmet food and lots of massages.

So far he is doing just fine.

Fall is here!

The weather is finally cooling down! Today there was rain and lots of sunshine. I walked to the store today for the first time since I've moved back to Tochigi. And today there was a small but momentarily scary earthquake. Gotta love Japan weather.

In other news, here are some photos from last weekend's game against Mitsubishi (the Brex won both games).

Pretty Portraits: Amanda

Yay for meeting another photographer and doing headshots! :)

I reached out to Amanda to see if she wanted to meet up and exchange headshot photos since I hadn't seen any on her website. I was so excited that she was willing to meet up and talk about photography and have some fun shooting. After just a little while, I felt like we'd known each other for years. She was super friendly, extremely knowledgable and very generous...she let me try out her super cool (and verrrry expensive lenses that I'd been drooling over for months).

Taking photos is easy when you have a pretty face as your subject!

Amanda, I had so much fun chatting, being laughed at by school staff and dodging traffic while trying out new angles. I reeeeally hope we get to meet up again before you head out of Japan. Pretty please?!

p.s. I'll post some of the shots she did of me later!

It's that time of year again...

The Brex basketball season commences next weekend (the 17th). Games usually help make the season fly by and I hope that is the case this year!

In other news, I am happy to report the weather has cooled considerably. That makes me happy. VERY happy. :)

Is it really still summer???

It is now the first week of September and today was a scorching 95 degrees in Tochigi. The dry heat felt like Vegas in July. Luckily though, Abe had the day off so we found refuge in our local Coco's restaurant. All you can drink iced coffee? Yes please!

Aside from drinking all the ice coffee my stomach will allow, I have started working again. Lots of happy little children to sing and dance with!
Oh yea, I also sleep. A LOT. This weather really drains me.

Here's a picture of my cat Ninja (taken on my iPhone) doing what he does best:

Looks like he hates this heat too! Oh autumn, hurry up and get here already!
